Poets visit Chapel FM to showcase talents on air

In March 2018, a group of Grangers were invited to visit Chapel FM radio in Seacroft, Leeds to take part in a live radio show about poetry.

Chapel FM is a community run radio station based in a renovated chapel, who are currently running a broadcast literature festival called 'Writing on Air' in conjunction with First Story.  The students read some of their poems and stories live on air.  The poetry is currently in the process of being edited ready for publication in an anthology at the end of the school year.  They also read finished work by other Grangers from previous First Story anthologies.

The group were joined by Mrs Blashill and Mr Bradshaw as well as Grange's resident poet, Donavan Christoper.  Donavan has been working with Grange on the 'First Story' programme for the last three years to promote the importance of literacy, communication and expression through the art of poetry.  Each year, the project culminates in a live evening of poetry and the launch of an anthology of published work by young people from schools around the country.

You can listen back to the show on the Chapel FM website here we're on at 02:09:16.
