Behaviour, Anti Bullying & Exclusions

It is a basic expectation that everyone at Grange will be positive and creative members of society who fulfil their potential. We have very clear procedures for managing behaviour which are followed consistently by our staff.  The school’s Behaviour Policy is available at the bottom of this page.  The Behaviour Policy is based around a set of rights and responsibilities, which students and staff are expected to follow:

Our Rights

  • The right to learn
  • The right to teach
  • The right to feel safe and secure
  • The right to be respected

Our Responsibilities

  • To be good role models
  • To speak politely and calmly to everyone
  • To be punctual, prepared and productive in every lesson

We aim to create and sustain a community of which we all feel proud. We will continue to develop an effective climate for learning in which all members of the community have high aspirations, feel safe and secure and respect the rights of everyone. We will actively promote equality amongst all community members.  We are proactive in tackling bullying and dealing with racist or homophobic behaviour and attitudes. We will celebrate students’ achievements and reward them for their efforts.  Our Anti-Bullying Policy is available to download at the bottom of this page.

Our policy on exclusions is to adhere to the DFE 'Exclusion from maintained schools, academies and pupil referral units in England Statutory guidance for those with legal responsibilities in relation to exclusion' document.  The latest version is listed at the bottom of the page.

Protocol for Student Searches

Grange Technology College recognises that the educational environment of the school is an
important factor in every student’s ability to learn. We are committed to providing an environment where teaching takes place every day in a safe and orderly fashion. Unfortunately, there may be incidents where students decide to bring prohibited items into school which could jeopardise a safe environment for others.  Where such incidents occur, the safety of our students, staff and visitors is compromised and puts others at risk.  Our protocol document is listed in pdf format at the bottom of this page.
