Campus Naat & Qiraat
Students from across the campus shared the stage with a superstar of Islamic poetry at the 9th Annual Naat & Qiraat.
Students from Southfield and Grange performed at the Naat & Qiraat on Wednesday 18th January 2018 in front of a busy audience including the Lord Mayor Cllr Abid Hussain, who had taken time out of his busy schedule to attend the event.
Grange Headteacher, Miss Mander opened the event, which was hosted by Pastoral Manager Jamil Liaqat. The students performed with great confidence, eloquence and passion, before a very special guest was welcomed to the stage. Awais Mohammed Qadri is a superstar of the Islamic poetry world and gave a wonderful performance which was streamed live to over 20,000 listeners on a local radio station.
The event was well received by the audience, which was made up of parents, students, staff and many others from the wider community.
In her welcoming speech, Miss Mander expressed her pride as Headteacher to welcome so many guests . As a graduate of Religious Studies from Leeds University, Miss Mander has studied many important religious texts in her life. She said "Although I don't speak Arabic, I am struck by the beauty of the language, its resonance and ability to impart great feeling and faith."
She added "I am proud that we were able to welcome such an esteemed guest to perform this year. Grange is a truly inclusive school which sits at the very heart of our community. I hope veryeone who attended or listened on the radio enjoyed such a special experience as I did."
