Information on Merger of our Trust

On Monday 23rd July our CEO, Business Manager and the two Headteachers of Grange and Southfield will visit thehead office in Manchester of the Co-operative Academies Trust, to start the ‘due diligence’ discussions that we hope will lead to the re-brokerage (merger) of our trust, to become part of this larger trust

In June the Department of Education gave their approval to this proposal from our own Board of Trustees, which has also received the strong support of the Co-operative trust’s board.

This proposal replaces the version that we consulted upon last year in which Guiseley School was set to take over Grange and Southfield to set up an alternative SEND trust with Delius School, and has been assessed by our own governors as having the best match with our existing values for education, and our approach to the employment of staff, for example by continuing to have a strong commitment to inclusive education.

There will be a formal consultation process in the autumn term, which will provide an opportunity for the community to give their views about the proposed changes, and if they do go forward – which I strongly hope they will do – to legal conversion, then a full TUPE consultation process would also be undertaken.

If all goes well, this merger could happen early in 2019.
