Harvest Festival

Friday 14th October was a big day in the Southfield calendar as we held our annual Harvest Festival spectacular.

This year was yet another outstanding event.  Reverend Jimmy popped in to talk about the imprortance of giving, sharing and thanking.  He also stepped up to perform singing duties at the last minute, leading the audience in some familiar songs of celebration.  There were also some wonderful student performances of poetry and sing & sign. The PVC had held a soup kitchen at lunchtime to raise money for charity, and who could forget the annual 'Harvest Box' competition.  The standard of entries this year was outstanding which made it really hard to pick a winner.  Everyone did a great job but Miss Kelly's class took the win with their 'Food From the Farm' creation.

Reverend Jimmy takes centre stage with his own entry for the harvest box competition.

Keith Thompson from Bradford Metrololitan Food Bank was guest of honour.  Both Southfield and Grange had run a food collection that morning so it was both fitting and rewarding to hand over several crates of food at the end of the day which will go to support families in our community who are in the most need.

The afternoon had all the hallmarks of a signature Southfield show and we would like to thank everyone who donated, supported and attended the event.  It was particularly good to see so many famlies in attendance.  The performance space was packed to the rafters which really added to the atmosphere.
