Community Hearts Award Winners
On Thursday 30th March we were represented at the annual Community Hearts Awards where staff and students were shortlisted in two categories, one of which we won.
This was the second consecutive year Grange has enjoyed success at the awards which celebrate the wealth of talent, skill and experience within local schools and community organisations. Last year, our Community Development Manager, Nazmin Din, won the Community Worker category, so we were delighted this year to have nominations in two categories. Having moved venues to accommodate more guests, this year's event was even better than last year, with great production, entertainment and entertainment put on by organisors Exceed.
Veteran teacher and Grange legend, Mr Radcliffe was nominated in the Inspirational Teacher category in recognition of over 35 years working with the community at Grange. Also nominated were Head Girl and Head Boy Amreen Rafiq and Imran Ul Haq for their extensive volunteering and charity work. The pair are outstanding ambassadors for the school with examples of their work including supporting a range of activities with the Lord Mayor's Appeal and fundraisers such as the recent Walk for Water.
Sadly, Mr Radcliffe was up against some very stiff competition in his category and didn't take the award overall but he was the first to congratulate Amreen and Imran who took the win to bring home the trophy. Our three nominees work closely together as Mr Radcliffe's responsiblities include being the lead teacher for Year 13 and student leadership. It was great to see them recognised for their commitment to the school and the community.
