Work Inspiration Week
Students take part in Work Inspiration Week
On Tuesday 28th April, a group of nine Year 10 students visited Ilkley based PR company Approach PR as part of a city wide programme of activities organised by local education, enterprise and employment project, E3 Bradford.
E3 Bradford launched Work Inspiration Week in 2013, and the project has grown to see an increasing number of businesses from across the district opening their doors to groups of students who were keen to see the workplace ‘in action’. The aim of the visits is to raise ambition, support careers guidance, and raise understanding of the workplace and the vital employability skills that are needed when entering work. Naturally, we were delighted to get some of our students involved and for them to visit a business which might not be accessible in normal circumstances.
Approach PR is an award winning company which provides national PR to small and very large companies both locally and nationally. During the visit, staff from Approach PR discussed what the company does and stands for, its history and past successes as well as running a workshop with the students to highlight the difference between PR and advertising. The students and staff found the sessions very interesting. The visit gave a valuable insight into the PR industry as well as what life can be like in the workplace.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank E3 Bradford and Approach PR for making this opportunity available.
