Visit from Liz Flanagan
The author Liz Flanagan visited the school and ran a creative writing workshop!
First Story students and some year 8 students who were using the session as a taster before joining First Story next year took part in the session.
Liz read from her novel ‘Eden Summer’ which is set in nearby Hebden Bridge linking it to theme of the workshop which was place and memory. The finished work covered a variety of subjects, rollercoaster rides, days at the seaside or in a park and visits to foreign countries.
Whilst giving feedback to the students Liz commented on the high quality of the creative writing and how friendly the students were.
Liz has had two novels published and is working on a third. Her novel Dragon Daughter was voted age 9 – 11 category winner at the Leeds Book Awards this year.
