BBC Music Day is a Hit in Bradford

Year 7 students take part in national BBC event to promote music.

On Friday 5th June, forty Year 7 students visited City Park in Bradford to take part in the inaugural BBC Music Day.  This was a national event which aims to get more young people involved in music, taking place in 10 cities around the country.  Bradford was the only city in Yorkshire to be selected to host the event which gained regional press coverage with BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration in attendance with a film crew.

The students took part in two performance alongside 700 other young people from Bradford schools.  The Big Sing saw the students perform 5 popular  songs together.  This was followed by a body percussion piece.  The students really enjoyed the day, which was made even better by the weather as the sun made an appearance to brighten up what was already a busy, colourful and noisy afternoon.   There is a gallery of photographs from the event here.

The Bradford Telegraph & Argus featured the event on their front page and you can read their report in full here.
