Students Visit Parliament

Year 10 group visit London for a tour of Parliament at Westminster and meet MP for Bradford South, Judith Cummins.

In the last week of the May half term a group of selected year 10 students went to London with Miss Lo Re and Mr Fletcher to visit Westminster where they gained a deeper insight into the work of Parliament, MPs and the law making process for their GCSE  Citizenship studies.

They were taken on a tour round the House of Lords and House of Commons, and even watched a live debate. They also took part in debating workshops, where things got quite heated at times!

The group with MP for Bradford South Judith Cummins.

We had arranged for the Member of Parliament for BD5, Judith Cummins MP, to come and talk with the students, which they thoroughly enjoyed, especially having the chance to debate the EU Referendum with her as well as issues they have in their own community.  All in all it was a very informative and interesting visit which was njoyed by those who took part.

As well as the serious side of the trip, the group were allowed to relax a bit, enjoying an open top bus tour of the city, which they loved.
