Southfield Nominated in Schools Awards
Two colleagues from Southfield School have been nominated in different categories of the 2018 Telegraph & Argus Schools Awards.
Mrs Bainbridge and Miss Willis were nominated by the school in the Secondary Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Member of the Year categories and have both been shortlisted for the main event which takes place this Thursday evening.
Mrs Bainbridge started as a Learning Support Assistant and has developed her career as a qualified teacher and middle leader in a relatively short space of time. She has been recgonised for the important work she has done on our transition programme, which ensures incoming students settle quickly into Year 7.
Miss Willis has been at Southfield (formerly Bolling) for over 17 years, working with some of the most vulnerable students in the school. Her commitment to her profession and the students in her care is outstanding. Trish is an expert in Intensive Interaction, an invaluable technique used with students who have profoud multiple learning difficulties to promote engagement and learning in people who have very limited means of communication. She has trained other staff in Southfield and the wider region in these techniques.
Headteacher, Mrs Hill said: “We are delighted to be representing SEND in Bradford at this year's Bradford Schools Awards. Mrs Bainbridge and Miss Willis are just two examples of many outstanding professionals in Southfield School and other Bradford SEND schools, where we are lucky to have so much talent and experience to deliver the education and care our students need. We wish them and all our colleagues from across the district the very best for the awards evening."
