SEND School Information Report
At Grange, we believe that all young people, regardless of ability or need, have the right to an inclusive and caring environment whilst also receiving a good education. There are a number of teams who work together to ensure that the provision is of a good quality and appropriate for the students’ needs:
- Inclusion hub: This is where the majority of students work when they are receiving interventions. This is also a safe space for students at break and lunch times.
- Designated Special Provision: This is a provision for 12 students who have a diagnosis of autism. This team works closely with the autism team in Bradford to ensure quality provision is achieved.
- Fresh Start Team: This team works with students who have a low reading age and, through the guidance of the Fresh Start phonics scheme, work to increase both reading and comprehension ability
- Flexible learning and behaviour support (Fledge) provision: An onsite provision for students who at risk of permanent exclusion or who need some learning away from mainstream for a short period of time.
There is a large team of Learning Support Assistants, that work with teachers in the classroom to support students, to ensure that they can access the learning and make progress. This might mean working with a small group to ensure that they are able to follow the information in the class or work 1:1 with students to support them with literacy or self-regulation.
As the SENDCo, my job is to coordinate this provision, as well as working with the wider school team to ensure that students with SEND make the best progress possible. This is because I believe passionately that all young people deserve a chance to succeed and because some young people need a lot of guidance to achieve this.
