Follow the Yellow Brick Road

On Wednesday 15th February we opened our doors for the stage show 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Over the last few months we have been working with colleagues from local primary schools including Princeville, St Oswalds, Lidget Green, Crossley Hall and Copthorne.  The cast of 40 included fifteen students from Grange, many of whom took leading roles.

Rehearsals started in late September and the cast only met once a week for 1hr 30minutes rehearsals.  Those students who wanted main parts were expected to attend an audition, but all who wanted to participate were able to do so.

The show was a real success and highlighted the talent we have for performing arts in our local community.  The students performed with great confidence; singing, dancing and acting their hearts out.  They did their schools, families and most importantly, themselves very proud.

As well as the opportunities for acting roles, our Design & Technology and Art departments also ran after school clubs to make props, costumes and pieces of set for the show.  The Grange students with leading roles were Zayna Shah (Dorothy), Awais Zaib (Tin man), Dina Ozola (Wicked Witch), Komal Iqbal (Wizard), Lauren Bolton (Guard) and Hannah Potter (Glinda the Good Witch).  We also had Taseen Rehman supporting Adam Grayson with back stage, lighting and sound.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part or supported the performance. It was a pleasure working with our local primary schools and well worth all the effort to see the students enjoying themselves so much on stage.  We look forward to seeing more of them in the future.

A big thank you also to Exceed Extended Services for their support.
